Dulas Excavating was selected as the site work contractor for the Owatonna Power Plant Re purposing Project. Teamed with Owatonna’s own Rocon, Inc., Dulas will be performing the mass excavation and underground utilities, as well as helping Rocon with the demolition of the old garage and Administration Building of the Power Plant.
In 2012, Dulas Excavating removed the two cooling towers and the inside of the outdated plant has been stripped of the turbines and generators. The power plant became inoperable in 2010 when equipment was damaged from the neighboring river that flooded that year.
Once the power plant has been re-purposed, it will house the administrative offices, as well as the engineering department along with commercial space. Owatonna Public Utilities is getting their local power from SMMPA.
