Fairmont Energy Center
In the fall of 2011, Dulas was awarded a contract with SMMPA for demolition of their existing power plant in Fairmont, MN. The Dulas crew stayed busy through the winter months dismantling the interior. The excavators went to work then with the demolition and loading of trucks. Significant amounts if iron and concrete were recycled on this project.
In 2012 Dulas was awarded the contract with The Joseph Company for continuation of the earthwork to prepare this site for the new Energy Station. This contract included excavation for footings, installation of water and sewer piping along with storm drainage, backfilling, and installing the class 5 in preparation for the parking lot. While the project was on a high track to finish, there were plenty of hurdles to cross, including contaminated soil from the old fuel tanks. The site is scheduled for a summer 2013 completion.
