Kerry Foods Fire
October, 2007
Kerry Foods located in Blue Earth, MN, experienced an unfortunate fire in the fall of 2007 that severely damaged their cereal-packaging plant. Days following the fire, structural engineers from the area were called in to investigate the damage and assist in the demolition. After assessing the situation, the engineers moved quickly on the demolition because of contamination concerns. Needing outside resources, the engineers immediately called upon Dulas Excavating to assist in the effort.
When the Dulas team arrived on site, cleanup of the food-processing portion of the building had already begun. Approximately 100 other individuals had been mobilized to take part in the cleanup. Shortly after, demolition of the 30,000 square foot warehouse began.
To complete this unique assignment safely and effectively, Dulas coordinated directly with the fire marshal, insurance representatives, and agencies such as the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and the Food and Drug Administration.
