Mower County Justice Center
Spring, 2009
In the spring of 2009 Dulas Excavating Inc. was awarded the site work package for the construction of the new justice center for Mower County, located in Austin, MN. The site was special in that it was not a typical green site, as most counties chose to build. The two-square blocks had previously held several commercial buildings which were demolished to make way for the new 40,000-sf Jail and Court Center. A number of challenges were met by Dulas as construction commenced including coordinating with the ongoing building demolitions, as well as the simultaneous soil correction for the structural building pad, all of which were under separate contracts and entities. Over the course of the 18-month schedule, crews from Dulas excavated for footings, assisted with the precast building erection, installed storm sewer as well as fire and domestic water services. Finally sanitary sewer services were dug in and finish grading for numerous parking lots for employees and visitors. The project was completed and the county moved into their new building in July 2010.
